Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service (Recreation and Barracks Funds) Regulations 1954

1. These regulations may be cited as the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service (Recreation and Barracks Fund) Regulations 1954.

2. In these regulations –

"Fund" means the Recreation and Barracks Fund referred to in regulation 3;

"subscriber" means a member of the Service, including the civilian staff attached at the workshop.

3. Subscription

(1) Every subscriber shall pay into the Fund irrespective of his rank a monthly subscription of 25 rupees.

(2) The subscription referred to in paragraph (1) shall be deducted from the subscriber's monthly salary.

4. Management

(1) The Fund shall be controlled and managed by a Managing Committee.

(2) The Managing Committee shall consist of –

 (a) the Chief Fire Officer, who shall be the Chairperson;

 (b) the Senior Finance Officer, who shall be the Treasurer;

 (c) one Assistant Chief Fire Officer, to be elected among assistant chief fire officers annually;

(d) one Divisional Officer, to be elected among Divisional Officers annually;

(e) one station officer, to be elected among station officers annually;

 (f) one sub officer, to be elected among sub officers annually;

 (g) one firefighter from each fire station, to be elected annually.

(3) A subcommittee, the Sports and Entertainment Committee shall be set up by the Managing Committee for the organisation of sports and other events.

5. The Fund shall not be held liable for the refund, to any subscriber, of any amount subscribed by him during his term of service in the Service.

6. (1) All subscriptions and other credits shall be paid into a bank operating in Mauritius to the credit of the Fund, and all payments from the Fund shall be made by cheque signed by the Chief Fire Officer and countersigned by the Treasurer.

(2) The accounts of the Fund shall be subject to examination by a board of officers appointed every year by the Chief Fire Officer.
