Contributory Scheme for Bank Fishermen Regulations 2006

[GN 104 of 2006 – 15 August 2006] [Sections 11 and 18]

1. These regulations may be cited as the Contributory Scheme for Bank Fishermen Regulations 2006.

2. In these regulations –

"Act" means the Fishermen Welfare Fund Act;

"bank fisherman" means a fisherman, registered under section 5 of the Fisheries and Marine Resources Act, to whom a Fisherman Continuous Record Book has been issued;

"banks" means the Nazareth, Saya de Malha and Chagos Archipelagos banks;

"fishing campaign" means a fishing operation carried out on the banks;

"Scheme" means the Contributory Scheme for Bank Fishermen set up under regulation 3.

3. (1) There is set up for the purposes of the Act a Contributory Scheme for Bank Fishermen.

(2) The Scheme shall be managed by the Board.

4. The objects of the Scheme shall be to provide financial assistance during the months of June, July and August of each year to bank fishermen participating in the Scheme.

5. The Fund shall set up a special fund –

(a) into which shall be paid –
